Salem village has been in a state of constant conflict since the land was settled seventy years earlier, but now, as war with the Native Americans subsides and the farms begin to grow - it seems that this small community will finally have peace.

However, in 1692 when a group of girls are found dancing in the woods in what appears to be a satanic ritual, old feuds and dark secrets come to light causing neighbours to turn against one another in what has become one of the darkest chapters in American history. It then falls to one man, John Proctor, who must not only save his wife from the noose, but stop the frantic hysteria that threatens to consume them all.

Stage Two Productions is back, stronger than ever, bringing this extraordinary play to campus, as the University’s one and only drama club! Alongside director, Luke Thornborough, they bring to life Arthur Miller’s classic with an impressive cast of 21. His true-to-text adaptation allows the play to be seen as Miller intended – showcasing the timeless relevance of the overwhelming power of the community over the individual.

“The frightening thing about The Crucible should be the sensible, reasoned and educated individuals who heartily agree with killing their neighbours.” – director, Luke Thornborough
