The Pillowman mesmerized audiences in London and New York.
Now Auckland Theatre Company is proud to present the New Zealand premiere of this spellbinding and searingly funny new work from Martin McDonagh who gave us The Cripple of Innishmann and The Beauty Queen of Leenanne.
In an unspecified (but eerily familiar) totalitarian state, writer Katurian Katurian entertains his younger brother with shocking fairy tales. But when grisly murders that mirror these tales slice through the town, two sardonic secret policemen come knocking.
"Entertaining evening. Appalingly funny dialogue with unexpected twists that maintains an engaging framework of suspense." - NZ Herald
"The script is remarkably engaging...as indeed are police enquiries for reasons of legal clarity." - Theatreview
"Appallingly funny, endlessly quotable, delicious and wonderous. The Pillowman is above all about the thrilling narrative potential of theatre itself". - New York Times.
Show duration: 2hrs 50 minutes including interval
